Step aside, Siri. Microsoft's digital personal assistant Cortana is officially making its way to Apple's mobile operating system.
Redmond on Tuesday began recruiting iOS users who are interested in testing out a beta version of the app before a formal launch. To participate in the beta, you'll need to be a member of Microsoft's Windows Insider Program and complete a briefquestionnaire.
Microsoft wants to know which iPhone you use, what version of Apple's iOS mobile operating system you're running, how often you currently use Cortana on Windows, and which country you live in. The beta is only available in the U.S. and China at this time.
Cortana can help you with basic tasks like sending emails, scheduling events, and searching your device, the cloud, or the Web. It will also help you keep track of your schedule, delivering reminders when you need them.
The iOS version initially won't have all the features you'll find on Windows, but Microsoft said it plans to frequently update the app with new features and functionality over the coming months.
"While there are some features you'll use on Windows that we don't (yet) support on iOS phones (like saying 'Hey Cortana' to wake her up), we've focused on making Cortana on iOS the perfect companion to your Windows experience," Microsoft said.
Those who sign up for the beta and meet Microsoft's requirements will receive a download link via email in the coming weeks.
Meanwhile, Microsoft also recently released a beta version of Cortana for Android. To try out Cortana on Android, head over to Google Play and download the app.
